The Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) was founded in 1951 by a group of forward-thinking IT professionals who recognized the need for a dedicated community to support the burgeoning field of information technology. Originally known as the National Machine Accountants Association (NMAA), the organization aimed to provide a platform for sharing knowledge, advancing careers, and fostering innovation.
As technology evolved, so did our organization. In 1962, we became the Data Processing Management Association (DPMA), reflecting the growing importance of data processing in the IT industry. By 1996, with the rise of the internet and the expanding role of IT professionals, we adopted the name Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) to better represent our diverse and dynamic membership.
Throughout our history, AITP has remained committed to empowering IT professionals by providing resources, networking opportunities, and a supportive community. Our chapters, scattered across the country, continue to serve as vibrant hubs where members can connect, collaborate, and grow.
Our mission is to empower IT professionals by fostering innovation, supporting professional growth, and driving the future of information technology. We aim to create a vibrant, inclusive community that is dedicated to the highest standards of professional conduct.
We envision a future where AITP members are leaders in the IT field, driving technological advancements and contributing to a global network of knowledge and expertise. Our vision is to be the premier organization for IT professionals, known for our commitment to excellence and innovation.
Our Code of Ethics ensures that our members uphold the highest standards of professional conduct. Integrity, respect, and excellence are at the core of our values, guiding us in all our interactions and endeavors.
Our diversity is our strength, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and experiences.
